We are abroad again! Last Friday we left Utrecht and headed towards south. Accompanied by snow and rain, we hit the road and drove with a steady pace towards France. And yes there she was: as soon as we hit the borders with France, the sun came out. Finally... Spring is coming!
We tried to avoid toll roads and ended up visiting the beach west of Arras. An area with beautiful sand dunes and a large, kind of 'Dutch' beach. Kalí was happy she could run around again after some hours in the van. While we drove around the area, searching a spot to camp for the night, we found a camping in the woods that was open all year. For only €14 we could stay the night including electricity. Perfect! Shopped some food in the nearby supermarket and parked our van on the grass of the camping. First night again in our van, now including a table and some heating. It was cosy and so relaxing. The van ended up being large enough for us to stay inside and cook/eat. The following day we woke up with sunlight peaking through our (new!) curtains. Making coffee and tea, while slowly waking up, was really uber idyllic.
Our road continued towards the south. The landscape was getting nicer the more we went on. Again nearby the beach, we started searching for a nice spot. We were south of Caen, nearby Avranches. The whole area between Avranches and the sea, was a mix of the UK with France. All kind of English stone cottages, green hills, colourful skies and small roads in between. We ended up on a dead end road that led to the beach. Around 100 metres from the entrance of the beach, we parked our van. There was a small wooden cottage that was a bar and served pizza. Again perfect... Sun was setting, drunk some richards and took a pizza with us for in the van. Another relaxing night next to a meadow full with horses and a donkey. The donkey was super cute, but in the night, when it was pitch black dark, he scared the *** out of me with his weird noises. If you don't know there is a donkey right next to you, while you go out, well: he almost made me pee my pants...
Because we were still really north, we decided to spend some money on toll and took the highway straight down towards Bordeaux. In the evening we arrived in the house and today we already went over to my friends place to drink some tea and see her beautiful new born baby! Will see more of them during this week in Bordeaux...
P.S: If you want to know the exact places we stayed, let me know! I can share you the coordinates :).
