Last week my mother has visited us in France! It was great to have her over. She actually didn't had a vacation in 5 years where she would just be at one place and relax. She always goes on vacations to see a whole country, takes buses and travels around. Just sit and relax in the sun in front of your 'holiday house' had been a long time and I am glad she enjoyed it.
But we haven't been lazy all the time. We walked down to the village a couple of times, visited the market in Saint Girons, worked in the garden (thank good lord she showed me how to do that...), strolled around in St. Liziers, found a very nice restaurant and made a great hike of around 13km in the area to see some caves. Well, in the end we could only see the entrance of the cave but the hike was beautiful. Besides this of course my mother cooked many days for us. She loves cooking and especially when there is a big kitchen AND a lot of time. I didn't mind at all! Food cooked by your own mother is always the best. And she showed me how she used to make bread (over 20 years ago). She still nailed it! I think my bread has improved now.
If you are all the time with 'just the two of you', it is nice to have a guest. To be able to show someone where you live at the moment. And also to have different input for conversations, thoughts etc. We both enjoyed her staying and I was a bit sad to drop her off at Toulouse Airport. Luckily I will see her again in the Netherlands soon.
By the end of next week 'the other mother' will arrive all the way from Greece!
